There's not been a lot of euphoria written about next seasons team. What are everyone's thoughts? I for one think it's a great start to team building for next season especially at reserve where the lads could be match winners. Along with Alfie and Nathan topping the list its going to be an exciting start to the season. Let's hope its an injury free one πππ This forum is not normally for respect and praise , normally for discontent lol

I'm very happy with the line-up so far. We have two out-and-out heat leaders in Alfie and Nathan who I'm sure will be competing to be number 1 all season. Henry and Richard are an excellent back up to them, and Sheldon and Arran are both young and have lots of potential. A great deal of scope for the team to increase their averages. If we get some luck and stay injury free, I think we could win some trophies. Well done Mark and Mattie on building the team early. That's not always been possible in previous seasons and could make all the difference. I'm really looking forward to finding out who the last piece of the jigsaw is, and am optimistic for next season. On another note, does anybody have any idea when the fixtures will be coming out? I'm keen to book some holidays to go to some away matches, maybe even a trip to Edinburgh!

Keep in contact.

We have to be honest here I feel. This looks like a winning team, exciting talent mix. rayleighrocket72 has put it right there. I want a winning team at home very least. So many times this was not the case these last two seasons to be honest! So deflating to know we're beat by heat 4 or 5. I know they all give everything, all of them. As I see it, if we can get say, the first 2, 3, may be four meetings as "Home wins" the supporters will come back. Lets face it, if we can win at home, may be pick up some "Away wins" or even just "close draws" the excitement will make more fans want more and encourage the 9's to 90's to come watch Plymouth Speedway. Merry Christmas to all. Here's to a successful 2020 !

Personally I like this team that the promotion have put together. Strong top end with Alfie, he rides all tracks well and I can't see him dropping to many points both home and away, a fabulous No1. Nathan is a racer and am pleased to see him back for us, last year his average was better away from home so with a little more consistency at home he will be another rider who will score good points for us next season. Richard had a bad year this season due to so many engine failures and mechanical issues. If he sorts out those gremlins I am sure he will significantly increase his average. He rides most tracks well so another great asset for us. He will be there if Alfie and Nathan have a poor meeting so I hope he retains the skipper's arm band. So pleased to see Henry back with us for 2020. I feel his average is far lower than it should be, so that's a bonus. Watch out this season as Henry will be snapping on the heels of the above mentioned riders. He rides our track well and is a real racer with youth very much on his side. I think he will be our teams most improved rider this season so look out all other teams because Henry is back where he belongs with the gladiators. Regarding our two reserves, they are young riders who actually went well at our track last season so will definitely improve. With our last team member they can swop from reserve to main body thus being able to gain experience and improve technique and the three will probably challenge each other for the main body position which I am sure will be an added incentive. So strong top four which in my opinion will be good both home and away, the bottom three guys will probably surprise us too because I can genuinely see all three upping their average. So what's not to like? Nothing in my opinion, this team will seriously test all teams this season and if we don't seriously compete for all titles this season, I for one will be surprised. Roll on the new season, I am seriously looking forward to it. π

Roll on the new season, I am seriously looking forward to it. π Very interesting comments there Richie and ones I very much share. I had the opportunity to work with Alfie at close quarters last season and was very impressed by him, not only on the Track but off it, very professional, immaculate equipment and a real Team man who cares passionately about his performances. He had to ride in top 5 for much of the season and actually at No 3 to allow Lewis Kerr the tactical advantage of riding in Heat 14 (No 4) and acquitted himself very well. He actually led Nicholls at Leicester and Cook at Glasgow for 3 laps. The different in CL is when those boys pass you, they don't just pass you they "move you out of the way" so very often you can go from first to last. Alfie prefers bigger tracks but very comfortable at Plymouth and I have no doubt a good chance of matching the excellent points Ben Wilson scored last season. Nathan is a guy I saw a lot of when riding for Kent in 2018 and also at TC last season of course. He is one of those guys you never want to race against as he never gives up. I think he has matured a lot in past 2 years and indeed can give you a bit of Eastbourne context about Nathan too. When we needed a reserve for Championship Shield Final v Leicester this season I immediately booked Nathan. Reason was that I knew he would never give up and also would not just ride round for his guarantee. The pojnts he scored belied his performance over 2 Legs and Richard Lawson no less was very impressed with Nathan on and off the track. Bodes well for a great season at Plymouth and Somerset. To me Henry on 5. something is the steal of the season in any league anywhere. He is and can be an 8 point rider and just needs to regain confidence and speed in an environment he knows and feels comfortable in. Speedway is in my opinion 95% in the head once you have acquired to core skills and Henry will be a massive improver if we can unlock that confidence. I was at Somerset the night he dislocated his shoulder last May and I don't think he ever fully regained confidence after that. I think we could have 3 guys on well over an 8 point average there with Alfie, Nathan and Henry and indeed would not like to predict who could be no 1. Richard is one of the "good guys" of the Speedway world, on and off the track and another whose average has never really reflected his undoubted talent. Perfectly capable of challenging for a heat leader spot if it all clicks as it did for a while in second half of 2018 when he and Henry were "tearing it up". I will be organising a bit of Gating Technique help for Richard from a couple of the best Gaters in UK Speedway via some links I have; and if Richard can just improve that aspect a little could put as many points on his average as Henry...another perfectly capable of finishing on 7 1/2 to 8 point average. I have seen Sheldon and Aaron a few times and both have scope to increase notional 3 point average significantly. There may not be quite as many "emerging 15 year olds" this season as last couple of years, very few in fact, so lads like Sheldon and Aaron can put CL experience they have to good use and both have proven they are very comfortable around the Coliseum so with some help and support I'm sure both can improve those starting averages. As for the No 7, I know Mark has a few irons and thoughts up his sleeve and whoever it is will be part of a very strong and passionate septet all with hunger and desire to be part of a team that can win things... Can't wait!

Just a question was looking on the BSPA site was just wondering why none of our team has been announced on there is this because they haven't been informed or have just chosen not to put it on yet or have our riders not been confirmed yet.looking at some of the other teams doesn't as yet look as if there's much to fear as yet as I believe our 6 riders have the matching of most of them, hopefully they will gel and believe they can win everything and hopefully injury free looking forward to the season

Most likely the agreements are in place but until the ink is dry and the forms submitted by Mark and Mattie they will not be published.
