I can't either. Has anyone ever seen two riders get excluded in one go before?

No, I've never come across that before, except when the other rider is not under power at the time. But that wasn't the case in this instance. From what I saw, Blair fell in front of Roynon and then he fell. Quite a simple one I thought. We were all wondering how the referee came to that decision. I'd love to hear his explanation! That certainly cost us the match. That said, it was a very entertaining meeting and the team rode very well. We've been lacking decent reserves up to now, but Rhys and David are much more capable and are scoring well, which makes all the difference.
The result doesn't make a massive difference to the table as it's still a case of who goes away with the wooden spoon. Our home match against Armadale will probably decide that. I can't see any reference to this match anywhere. Has that fixture not been set yet? Also, the away match at Mildenhall has not yet been rearranged.

So close for The Centurions August 9, 2022 The SWTR Centurions were unlucky to suffer a narrow 44-45 points defeat to the table topping Berwick Bullets at The Coliseum last night.
In a much improved display, featuring an excellent debut by the returning Adam Roynon who scored 14 points from 6 rides. This included a very controversial exclusion in Heat 13, when he fell marginally after Berwick rider Greg Blair on the same bend, resulting in the very unusual decision that saw both riders excluded, a decision that ultimately swung the match Berwicks way.
Adam was well backed by Ben Morley, who recovered from an uncharacteristic last place in Heat 1 to record 12 points also from 6 rides, reserves Rhys Naylor and David Abraham also further emphasised their rapid progress since returning to the sport after long absences with 6 and 5 points respectively, giving the SWTR Centurions their most potent reserve pairing of an injury hit season.
Richard Andrews, whose fall when on a 5-1 with Naylor in Heat 12 was also a game changing moment and Adam Extance both deserved more points from the effort expended.
The SWRT Centurions next meeting is an Away Fixture against Kent on the 28th August, whilst rearranged dates against Armadale at Home and Mildenhall Away have yet to be confirmed.

I'm guessing that Armadale meeting will be arranged once we know how the Gladiators season pans out. Think we need to complete our fixtures by the end of August so in the, at present extremely unlikely, event of a rain cancellation that Tuesday 30th will be required just in case. Then it's a case of how the playoffs fixtures are going to work so I guess it will slot in around those.

Nail biting stuff last night! What a great meeting it was. I haven't seen a NDl match like that for a long time. Anybody who was thinking of going and decided not to, missed the team fighting to get the result. All the riders gave their all. Brilliant, well done to the team. How anybody can mock that meeting and the team, I just don't know! The riders need to know that, as supporters, we want them to do well, but if at the end of the day, it all goes pear-shaped, then so be it. But it is not the end of the world and we have to get behind them for the next meeting and give them all the encouragement we can to lift the team spirit.

With the end of the 2022 season fast approaching, was it all those months ago back in late March when the season started, it's really flown by, most people around me had this down as a bit of an easy away win, but the 'fighting Centurions' had different ideas. For all those that decided for some reason to give this meeting a miss, you missed an absolute 'cracker', it's unusual to get a rider 'warning' in a meeting, but this one had three, with multiple reruns/controversial exclusions and with a last heat decider all adding to the nights spectacle, the home reserves outscoring the away reserves and the R/R facility at last got over the missing riders CMA. I know I keep 'banging' on about the impressive match programme, this one continued with some excellent 'pin sharp' full page action shots, particularly liked the On The Road photo on page 24/25. The Archives page had a couple mentions of Vic Huxley, for all those who have never heard of the name, he was a true pioneer of the sport, born as Victor Nelson Huxley in Brisbane Australia, apparently only his parents were allowed to call him 'Nels', most of his fellow riders calling him 'Hux' and everyone else called him Vic. Before the World Speedway Individual Championship/Speedway Grand Prix there was the equivalent Star Championship which he won in 1930, in those days riders would use stripped down 'street legal' bikes, in fact for a short time in the early years the Auto Cycle Union (ACU) insisted all machines were fitted with a usable rear brake, he started to ride without telling his parents and was so successful that they only found out when the local paper had glowing reports of his broadsiding exploits. Starting out riding a 'stripped down' AJS he soon moved on to riding a Harley-Davidson 'Peashooter' first designed to race on the American Board Tracks, always being a innovative rider he again changed machinery to a Douglas then a Rudge, once said to be so hard on his machines his mechanics nicknamed him 'The Chainbreaker' and was for a short time the 'highest paid sportman in the world and in his day was more famous than Bradman', on first arriving in England it's said he didn't just lower track records by seconds but by minutes and held multiple track records wherever he raced, he rode for Harringay 'Canaries' and Wimbledon 'Dons' and throughout his career only had one serious fall. He kept all his trophies and memorabilia in his garden shed and was more interested in press cuttings of his fellow riders, he died at home in Brisbane in 1982. So as the season gradually winds down with only 6 home league meetings to go, yet another one gets ticked off, as usual thanks to all the workers and volunteers but especially to all the riders.
