Centurions V Bullets Preview August 9, 2022 The Plymouth SWTR Centurions return to home track action at The Coliseum tonight, with an NDL Fixture against the table topping Berwick Bullets.
The SWTR Centurions will welcome back Adam Roynon who makes a belated debut following his recent signing and his presence is sure to strengthen the team both on and off the track.
With Dan Gilkes still out of action and unlikely to be back soon as we reported on Sunday in our Northern Tour review, and regular replacement Alfie Bowtell also out of action with a couple of fractures in his leg and knee ligament damage, we will again welcome Ben Morley, who steps down from the Westcolour Gladiators Championship Team to guest in the No 1 position.
Ben Trigger is also nursing leg injuries so we will operate Rider Replacement in the no 2 slot but welcome back Richard Andrews who was missing on the Northern Tour due to long planned family commitments.
The SWTR Centurions will line up:
Ben Morley (Guest for Dan Gilkes)
R/R (for Ben Trigger)
Adam Extance
Richard Andrews
Adam Roynon
David Abraham
Rhys Naylor
The table topping Bullets will line up:

And couldn't be replaced as you're only allowed 2 guests in the NDL if I understand it correctly.

If Richard’s absence was known about for some time why was he listed in the team for the northern tour? I understand that no replacement my have been possible or allowed. Almost impossible to put up a reasonable show with R/R and one additional rider short, especially one of your most experience/better riders. I think it must be very difficult for Plymouth to attract good quality NDL level riders when they only ride in the basic league, thus so few fixtures. Teams like Mildenhall will be more attractive to young enthusiastic riders.

Well this was much better. All the riders scored points and the result was in doubt until the last couple of heats
Our two reserves deserve a special mention, they rode much better than I expected. Well done!
Adam and Richard seem to have gone a bit backwards from where they were a few years ago. I remember Richard winning lots of races and Adam had the knack of scoring valuable points to win us matches having got better as the season progressed. Unfortunately, with so few competitive meetings this year they do not have much opportunity to improve.
Overall, it was a very good result for Plymouth, considering the previous weeks efforts!

That was much better and if the speedway gods had looked favourably on us we might well have nicked the win against a very good and extremely talented Berwick side.
We're definitely seem a stronger team now and if Richie stays in heat 12 or Adam settles into 3rd in heat 13 or that bend one bunching in heat 14 doesn't mess up Rhys' (or was it David's) bike we probably sneak over the line. Of course, those self same gods did smile in heat 2 when a probable drawn heat turned into a Centurions maximum and Ace Pijper's fall also gained us a point so it all evens itself out in the end.
Good meeting - well done Bullets and well done Centurions. Really enjoyed that.
