Please accept my apologies my previous post may not have been bold enough... There will be a Gate check next Friday to make sure that the patrons that believe swearing in front of children is acceptable will not be admitted to the stadium.

I may or may not receive some backlash from this comment, and if I’m honest I’m expecting the worst. But be assured this isn’t me speaking as a Co Promoter or a Team Manager, this is purely me speaking as a former rider of 17 years experience.
I have been actively involved with this club since it reopened in 2006 as the St Boniface Arena. Even though I retired from active racing since 2017 I still actively practice with the team on practice days, so I am very aware of how the track rides.
In my 14 years of track experience on Plymouth I can honestly say in regards to how the track rides it has never been as consistent or smooth as it currently is. The only things that have plagued us, especially this season have been inconsistent weather and lack of availability to track surface material to had to our current surface.
Yesterday’s meeting saw Andrews Rowe miss out on Ellis Perks NL track record by 0.69 (the blink of an eye). Races won in those kind of times are not on tracks that prepared incorrectly, they are won on well prepared tracks and that is fact.
Again in regards to the track it is also fact as I stated earlier that suitable track material is few and far between, it is also fact that the racing is as fast and as hard as it’s ever been at this level. Also take into consideration there is a lot more inexperienced riders currently in the league when you think back to our old Conference and National League days you had riders such as Seemond Stephens, Mark Simmonds, Lee Smithills, Tom Brown and riders such as myself, Nikki Glanz, Kyle Hughes, Tim Webster etc. Back then it was very much men from the higher leagues dropping down and young riders with at least 10 years junior experience, not kids fresh out of the Development Leagues who have only been riding a handful of years.
I’m expecting some kind of negative comments to fire back on me and if I’m honest I’m ready for it. I did speak to one supporter after last nights meeting pretty much telling me I never amounted to anything as a rider so what do I know? What I know is as I stated I have 14 years track experience, a former track record at Plymouth, previous trophies with Plymouth dare I go on. Even though my standard of riding ability might not of been that of a GP riders as I replied to said supporter “some of the best boxing trainers have never been in the ring”.
If there are any supporters that remain unsure about anything please feel free to come have a chat at our next home meeting, I don’t bite but I can talk for Devon, so sorry in advance. But I would be more then happy to explain in more detail about the ins and outs of the track so you have a better understanding of it.
Regards, Mattie

I left after heat 9 walked out with a new family first time at speedway plus many others,(they asked is that normal riders falling off so much)nothing else to say is there. The track conditions lost the match for Plymouth.

I spoke to 3 riders who said the track was terrible but I suppose it’s down to the individual to me ,it was just a couple of questionable r/r also was Richard not very well as I thought he deserved a r/r ride!! the win was there for the taking but I will still support the team as I’ve said before I will always support the team perhaps others will support the fans!!!! As without us what’s the point!

M/B Thank you for that reply, over the years you and the family given the Plymouth supporters many good memories to look back on (thank you for that). There are many long term supporters out there who have not been on a bike, but have picked up an opinion or two on this sport. The one thing that up set me last night was when N/S was on the deck there was a camera man on the track taking close up shots? centre green man over looking at him, then making a comment that he had a sour neck! correct me please, I was sure it states that when a rider comes off only the medical team plus riders mechanic should be in attendance!. For myself up in the stand on bend one, There was quite a lot of vocal discontent but with young children and ladies close by, I did not hear any type of bad language from this area. I did leave after heat 9 very disappointed in the meeting.

The averages in program unfortunately were superseded when new ones were released just after printing.

I think that both our promoters are in total denial about the state of the track and as for a lack of suitable shale I recently visited Peterborough and they had enough spare shale stored to cover our track twice over. I also sit on the first bend and can assure our promoters that there was no abusive language from there only people criticising the track conditions and the comment from our centre green announcer about Nathan Stoneman that he's a bit sore leaves me speechless.

Cheers for clearing that up heat1 is was only going by program lol I don’t want to harp on but I personally put a lot of time and effort into the setting up of the track when it first started I’ve seen throughout the years the different states of the track as have the few ardent fans that still come in week in week out the ones that don’t come anymore were the ones that seem to have been slated or put down by previous managements promoters etc as a loyal fan sometimes a step back and look at the supporters views should be taking into account a little.I’m not saying every time but you just have to see the dwindling crowds to tell you something must be wrong again only my opinion which people should take or disregard it is only an opinion which we are all entitled to as paying customers. I do appreciate matts post which he didn’t have to put on but we need to all come together for the sake of Plymouth speedway
