Weird old meeting that. Felt quite flat until Rory Schlein decided to squeeze Alfie into the boards on the line and then the Gladiators really took off but it was just too late.
Great rides for the 5-1's from Bjarne and Richard and I'd like to think Zack enjoyed putting one over his brother. Poole are a good side thoughout and with Steve Worrall and Stefan Nielsen, who we know and was decent here a few years back it was always going to be a struggle.
Oooh, Jason's had a few practice laps... can't be long now fingers crossed.

Great to see such a great crowd ,hand on heart I never thought we would win as there strength in depth is pretty awesome, I wish bjarne could get off the line in his early heats as against that quality opposition it’s to heart to pass.I don’t want to get on his back but it’s blatantly obvious where we are struggling what’s the answer I don’t no could you bring a rider like jake knight in because he isn’t going to score less than 0 is he ,as I say I don’t no the rules and regulations but when your against a team like Poole who are quite strong or very strong in every race you can’t carry passengers the final score was closer than I thought, great for mark to see the collesium so full reward for his hard work .onwards an upwards to next week.

No offence intended but a couple of heats there we had a total of 8 point riders up against 12 point riders. The outcome was obvious but we could see ours weren't giving up easily! Not a terrible result in the end, well done all!

So on reflection from last night we scored more than I thought we would so fair play boys good shift put in. We were up against 3 Premier team captains an ex rider and 3 good up and coming riders but for the most we held our own.
Lawson and Pedersen aside when Zach traps he's got good speed and will be hard to pass for the win. Dillon improving every week can see how hard he's trying throwing bike into bends trying different lines it will come. Alfie making himself a local hero gives it his all against anyone on track, ain't afraid to voice his opinion to other riders either 🥊🥊. Steven the slowest to settle but needs to find a bit of confidence to kick start his season. You dont become a bad rider overnight maybe a stint at 6 get some points on the board.
Anyways I'm rambling on was a good night as always. Roll on next week

Yes was a good meeting I thought Steven isn't far off the pace just his gating if he or someone could work with him on that it would be a benefit to him as he's not far off the pace as we are definitely noticing if you don't gate there's not a lot of chances to overtake I thought Rory Schlein was a bit over the top with his dig at Alfie from where I was watching (bend 2)he cut across him and to me that was dangerous so Alfie had every right to question him which I believe happened but I guess Rorys ego got the better of him!!

Gladiators 41 Pirates 49 June 22, 2021 PLYMOUTH ATKINS FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT GLADIATORS 41
POOLE PIRATES 49
The Atkins Financial Management Gladiators take an eight point deficit into next month’s 2nd leg of this Knock Out Cup encounter with local rivals, Poole.
Once again, it was the home side who went behind early on in the match, providing only two heat winners in the first ten races.
The tie looked done and dusted for the Pirates in Heat 10 when Gladiators’ guest, Richard Lawson fell and was excluded from the re-run leaving Poole to secure a 5-1 and open up a 16 point lead.
But, as in the first two home matches of the season, the Gladiators staged a comeback with Bjarne Pedersen heading home the previously unbeaten Rory Schlein in Heat 11. The race looked to be heading for a 5-1 for Plymouth with Bowtell impressively following his skipper but Schlein pulled a hard move on the Gladiators’ reserve coming out of the final bend which incurred the wrath of the home supporters.
Lawson and Pedersen then gained 5-1s in both Heat 13 and 15 to reduce the deficit and keep the tie alive for the second leg at Wimborne Road, scheduled for 21st July.
Encouragingly for the Gladiators, both Zach Cook and Dillon Ruml notched up their highest scores for the season so far.
Scorers:
PLYMOUTH – 41: B.Pedersen 12+1 (2,2,3,2′,3), R.Lawson 10+1 (2,3,FD,3,2′), Z.Cook 7+1 (1,2,1′,3), A.Bowtell 5 (3,FD,1,1,0,0), D.Ruml 5+1 (0,1′,2,2), L.Ruddick 1+1 (0,1′,0), S.Goret 1 (0,0,1)
POOLE – 49: S.Worrall 12 (3,3,3,2,1), R.Schlein 9 (3,3,2,1,0), S.Nielsen 8+2 (2′,1,2′,3), D.King 7+1 (3,1′,3,0), B.Cook 5+1 (2,2,0,1′), D.Hume 4+2 (1′,0,2′,1), Z.Keleher 4 (1,0,3,0)

[/i][/b] I hope you were listening to Jason Crump when he was interviewed. He said it was hard but fair and thats how to pass when conditions were tough. Be interesting to read your comments when a Plymouth rider does that to an opposition rider. I thought Pooles early dominance killed the meeting for atmosphere. For me, it was the poorest meeting in terms of excitement so far.Eight of the first 10 races were won by the rider in White. Track was very slick. Cant be helped though. Some odd refereeing decisions not helping, very inconsistent. Warning riders for moving at the start, from both sides, then allowing those riders to keep moving. Steven Goret moved every race. I also thought, quite clearly, that Hume had stolen 3rd from Ruddick on the line in Ht4, by at least half a bike length. I was stood directly in line with the start on the back straight. Supporters from both sides were surprised when it was announced the other way round. I suppose thats one of the drawbacks when the referees sightline is not in direct line with the tapes. Much better presented this week with Rob Dyer . Clear, concise, informative, good interviews. A definite improvement.

Just My opinion bobc as this is a discussion forum you saw it different to me I was just stating that Alfie had every right to question Rorys actions I don't have to highlight quote everyone who has a different opinion than mine obviously going to speedway over 50 years only makes me a novice!!!
