CRADLEY have booked Connor Coles to guest in their key National League clash with leaders Belle Vue today (Monday).
The Isle of Wight racer stands in for Danny Ayres whilst rider-replacement will operate for Richard Hall who aggravated a shoulder injury on Saturday.
Jon Armstrong guests for Lee Payne for the Colts, who also operate rider-replacement for Kyle Bickley who is competing in the World 250cc Championships in the Czech Republic.
Heathens Chairman Nigel Pearson said: “Bank Holidays are a very busy time in speedway so we studied our options carefully and we thank Connor for answering our late call.
“Naturally it’s a big disappointment and a huge blow to be without both Richard and Danny for what is such an important meeting, but we fully understand the absence of both riders.
“It’s not for us as a club to go into details of Danny’s absence; he is missing on compassionate grounds and our thoughts to go to Danny and the Ayres family at this difficult time.
“The rest of the lads know the task ahead of them on Monday, and they’ll be giving it everything they’ve got in what should be an entertaining meeting against the current league leaders.”
Colts star Rob Shuttleworth said: “In an ideal world, we would have Lee (Payne) back with us and we could tackle these last few meetings as a full team. But we can’t change the situation so we have to make the best of it.
“We’ve already proved we can carry rider-replacement between us, therefore I have no reason to believe we can’t maintain the away form everyone has come to expect of us; we know we can.
“Cradley will I’m sure have a bit of a chip on their shoulder because we’ve beaten them once before, so I think this will be a very exciting and competitive meeting from start to finish.”
Meanwhile second-placed Eastbourne are in action at Kent (3pm), with the hosts currently seven points off the play-off places but with matches in hand.
The Kings bring in Jordan Jenkins to guest for Ben Hopwood, who is on SGBC duty, whilst the Eagles call up Tom Bacon for Josh Bailey as they begin a run of three matches in six days.
Eastbourne boss Connor Dugard said: “We are looking to take something from the meeting. On our day, if we are all firing, we can do it.” link
